A list of the most influential street photographers of the past century."The essential attribute of street photography is chance - and that's likely why we're so drawn to it. Unlike documentary photographers, who wish to tell an overarching story of the subjects and places they capture, often for news publications, street photographers take photographs of fleeting moments that may exist outside of a greater narrative. Often, they are only meaningful for the single moment they capture. The street photographers of the world might envy photographers who take portraits or stage photo shoots. The latter group gets to control and create an image before taking it, which seems a hell of a lot easier than being able to get the perfect moment on camera as it occurs spontaneously. The street photographer has to wait for just the right moment to capture something worth shooting. The whole point of street photography is to capture happenstance - unplanned moments in public space. Often this involves humans sometimes doing funny things, like tripping or making strange expressions, but sometimes street photography just captures the photographer's surroundings. Although it can be similar to architectural photography, it doesn't have to focus on the structures in front of a lens. Instead, the focus of a street photograph is the composition of random objects coming together in a photographer's frame. The talented street photographer captures these chance happenings in a meaningful and engaging way. "

Title or Location: Unloved Boat, Alvor, Portugal
An apparently unloved old fishing boat, normally they?re decorated in beautiful bright colours. Retired and forgotten, I thought I?d attempt to breathe a little more life into this lovely old boat! From a photo taken years ago whilst on holiday in the Algarve. I took the picture with a view to painting it at some point and finally got round to it a year or so ago. I?m glad I did as it?s one of my family?s favourite paintings. Windsor and Newton Cotman colours on Daler-Rowney 140lb Aquafine pa

Title or Location: The Boat at the Shelly Rossmoyne foreshore park.
When days stretch long and sunsets occur late, I indulge in leisurely walks at the Shelly Rossmoyne foreshore park situated adjacent to the Canning river in Perth, WA. Although the broad vista of the Canning river, boats, and setting sun is certainly a pleasure, I find greater enjoyment in discovering secluded spots by peering through the trees that flank the path. Occasionally I get the opportunity to glimpse birds perched on branches but this particular boat has consistently been moored there,

Title or Location: Hope is the Thing...
9x13 watercolor in Arches 300lb cold pressed paperThis painting was inspired by Art Nouveau poster design and a stanza from one of my favorite poems, "Hope is the thing with Feathers" by Emily Dickinson. It is a reminder that even after the darkest of Winters, Spring will still emerge. Likewise, int he darkest of situations, hope is still on the horizon. The poem is as follows:?Hope? is the thing with feathersBy Emily Dickinson?Hope? is the thing with feathers -That perches in
